Billy Fitzgerald, Upswing Tutor Week Honoree
Upswing is celebrating Tutor Week October 12th–16th! To celebrate, we asked students to nominate the Upswing tutor who has impacted them the most.
Billy Fitzgerald was nominated as one of our honorees! 🏆
Billy has been an Economics, Finance, and Accounting tutor with Upswing since Spring of 2019. He has tutored nearly 1,000 sessions with an overall rating of 4.81/5. With a career in the financial services industry and experience in teaching/tutoring economics and finance both online and in-person, he’s been a tremendous asset to the students he works with! They describe him as “Patient”, “Extremely knowledgeable”, and someone who “Does his best to not only provide accurate training, but explain the whys behind the answers”. As an Upswing team member, Billy is humble, kind, attentive, and has a calm nature that makes him a true pleasure to work with.

Q: Why do you choose to tutor with Upswing?
A: Our community is enriched when people develop their skills and abilities. Contributing to others’ advancement is a privilege and a pleasure.
Q: What’s your favorite aspect of tutoring?
A: By engagement we are all changed! When working with students I always enjoy and appreciate the exchange of ideas and insight.
Q: Tell us why you think education/access to academic support is so important.
A: Everyone is unique; academic support provides an opportunity for students to review topics from a more personalized style and at a comfortable pace.
Q: What has been one of your favorite “break through moments” while tutoring?
A: People prosper when there is a clear sense of purpose. Encouraging students to think about objectives brings focus and makes the material more meaningful.
